Chris huhne - speeding penalty points

by , 3 months ago

According to the internet today Chris Huhne is to be charged with perverting the course of justice over allegations he asked his ex-wife to take speeding penalty points on his behalf.

Would you ask anyone to take your penalty points and also would you offer to take someone's penalty points?

Absolutley not! Although I believe this is a common occurance.

Another example of where a man in the public eye places his own self-importance and position over and above accepting the consequences of HIS actions and the law.

I seriously have concerns about the judgement of some of these elected officials in being able to undertake their professional duties with integrity and probity, if this is how they behave in their private lives.

If eventually proved them they should throw the book at him as a deterent to others. His denial has cost police time and money and if later proved innocent then his ex-wife should face charges for wasting police time and her vindictiveness.

Funnily enough Parchy I see Emmerdale is running a story line on the same subject. Very interesting how the case went and I would think very untrue to what would really happen to anyone doing that.

I didn't want to admit to that so publicly!!

But you're right. The first part of this story was concluded last night, where he got a fine and 8 points on his licence but that was after admitting his 'guilt'. How would the judge treat Hunhe?

There was a time where 'art' would imitate life. Now it definitely appears the other way round.

Yes also it looks like a woman scorned that has landed him in trouble or else why would she come forward and say this year's after it happened.

by Sabre, 3 months ago

Hasn't he been a naughty boy. Yes they probably will make an example of him as he is in a position of power and has broken the law.
Would I do the same? No as I couldn't bear the shame of someone paying for something I did, that's wrong.
Would I take the blame for someone else? Again no.

I wouldn't either Lillie. I don't see why when I drive carefully, do not exceed the speed limit and pay for parking my car I should be responsible for another person's carelessness. I've had this discussion with friends and family before and they think I'm really mean not to help out but I've never had a point on my licence and do not intend to get one either.

by Sabre, 3 months ago

Me neither, nor hubby. Both you and I are not meanies Sabre, just sensible.

This is a total no brainer as I wouldn't do anything that prejudices my integrity nor that of another, especially where a clearly criminal act is invlved.

Unfortunately the rest of the world is not so clean cut and this kind of thing goes on all the time, where identities are swopped to evade punishment. And to find a member of parliament involved is atrocious and should be dealt with sternly ... I would not be unhappy if a custodial sentence was allowable here as the status of the defendent is so important, even if it was suspended it would still remain a massive stain on character.

I assume that the wife is also facing investigation as she was clearly complicit in all of this?

Quite apart from the fact that I don't agree with what they did, I think they're total bloody idiots.

Mr & Mrs Joe anonymous might have got away with it, but if you set yourself up for a career in the public eye......

by Feline123, 3 months ago

No. It's illegal so no discussion needed.

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

by Sabre, 3 months ago

by Sabre, 3 months ago

by serena1, 3 months ago

I would never dream of asking anyone to take my points and quite frankly if someone would ever ask me I would never respect them for even putting me in a position!!!

by serena1, 3 months ago

As a matter of principle never take responsibility for such things!Extra problem for ex-wife taking vengence is that she also perverted course of justice by doing what she did and she too has been charged. Not a good move to take out vengence whilst not thinking over the consequences!

by creativesaver, 3 months ago
