The films at the Cinema these days are all Rubbish

by , 3 months ago

So no wonder everyone is downloading them and deserting the cinema - where are all the Bladerunners , Outland , The Thing , The Fog , Escape From New York , Betty Blue , Chocolate , Zulu Dawn , Excalibur , Cross of Iron, Kellys Heroes (Just a very small cross section of what I regard as classics - should be something in their for everyone).

Well the question is really have you seen anything recently you would recommend.

Ok here we go

In Time (Scifi) - Watched it last night not bad at all - 7/10

Yellowbrickroad (Horror) - Absolutely amazing non graphic horror with a good story (9/10)

Pandorum - Best scifi horror of the year - Amazing is all I can say 10/10

Vanishing on 7th Street - Rather good but flawed scifi - 7/10

The girl with the dragon tattoo - superb thriller - (8/10)

A perfect getaway - Keep you guessing to the end thriller (9/10)

Final Destination 5 - Better than the original (8/10)

Pontypool - Clever zombie movie - (7/10)

The Darkest Hour - Ingenious Scifi dont listen to the critics it is rather good - (7/10)

Panic Button - Great "Big Brother" style horror thriller set on a plane - very different - (8/10)

Ok thats enough to kickstart the thread?

Responses (15)

Girl with dragon tattoo - Swedish better but I did like Daniel Craig's too!
Pandora - agree very good
W.E - actually really surprised me I was impressed with madonna's directing so better than I expected!
Intruders - must watch in Spanish and English if your into horrors (as I am)
Shame - I enjoyed it's 18 cert so not for the prudish
J edgar - mediocre
The grey - good acting a bit long still enjoyed it
Iron lady - good
Sitter - really good comedy (I'm not a big fan of comedy give me a thriller/horror any day)!
Avoid in my opinion - like crazy and goon

I've not marked them but I hope that's ok sir

I'm looking forward to the new releases out fri - carnage, Martha macy may Marlene and jack and Jill and young adult. I've still to see haywire, descendants war horse and the artist but to be honest I don't fancy the artist I hear it is the film to see.
I love going to the cinema and if less people go that's fine as it'll be less annoying people behind you kicking seats with twitching legs and feet!!! It's annoying!!!!

Quite fancy CHRONICLE myself looks good...

Yes intruders was a true story very good but the remake with liv tyler was awful.

Debbie does Uranus , Jupiter and Pluto sounds rather intriguing!
Well she has done Dallas so they had to find something new!
>;o)

by Omendata, 3 months ago

I'd forgotten about chronicle I've still to see that also the Debbie one what rating would you give that? Lol

by serena1, 3 months ago

Oh you had to ask - "0.666666666667" what else!

>;O()

by Omendata, 3 months ago

I should have known!!! How silly of me to ask!!!

by serena1, 3 months ago

To all the read this I can assure you Omen had another number and edited or last minute!!! Lol! I can it did originally say 6 and 9 hmmm....
I'm sorry omen I've just outed it!! Lol!!!

by serena1, 3 months ago

What is 0.66666667?

I bet G-Man gets the puzzle first!

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Maths not a strong point lol I'm always puzzled when i ask how many inches i wonder if its in cm lol

by serena1, 3 months ago

6/9 = 0.6666667

lol

So yes you were right after all.....

by Omendata, 3 months ago

figured as much... lol

by serena1, 3 months ago

Ah..the penny's finally dropped, I'm a bit slow today!

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

>;o)

by Omendata, 3 months ago

But I can't see if you've got your fingers crossed behind your back........

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

You mean you actually want to be wound up by Omen, Jazzj.....?

by Feline123, 3 months ago

Behave feline, I meant he was teasing me as opposed to being nasty!!

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

I quite fancy seeing 'Warhorse' I've read and heard mixed reviews about it but nothing else on the circuit appeals at the moment.
Btw one of hubby's favourite films is Zulu Dawn oh and Gladiator.

by LILLIE, 3 months ago

District 9 - definitely worth a watch
The Artist - an experience, watch it in the cinema for maximum 'old school' effect
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy - enjoyable but you'll need to concentrate

Expert disclaimer: This is not financial advice, any suggestions should be taken as general guidance only.
by Hannah from money.co.uk, 3 months ago

Yes good film wasnt expecting much but it raised an eyebrow!

by Omendata, 3 months ago

This debate wil prove just how subjective people are.

The list you recommend OD clearly shows that you are into Sci-Fi and horror movies, and so to use a vast generalised sweeping statement that films at the cinema are rubbish, when you actually make no mention of current cinema screenings (perhaps with the exception of 'Dragon Tattoo' but then this could be the original one!).

What you are actually saying is there isn't a film within a genre that you like, that makes you want to go to the cinema and watch a film.

Each film has its personal merits and appeals to vast numbers of people on so many different levels.

I can also vouch that what is affecting cinema attendences is piracy. Being able to get the latest releases from the Chinese (Triad) community in my local ASDA car park!!

As this is part of the industry from which I make my living, I do tend to see films at the cinema. Many of this years OSCAR contenders are films worth watching.

The Artist, The Help, War Horse, The Descendants, Hugo, Moneyball to name the films I've seen are all enjoyable and entertaining and in some cases thought-provoking. But I'll freely admit that for many, these films would bore some to tears and that is why I believe that it is a subjective matter.

by Parchester, 3 months ago

Hi patchy! How interesting I didn't realise you work related to films!!! I love films as its my hobby I have an unlimited card so I can watch them all quite literally!!
I enjoyed the help and Hugo mentioned yet to see descendants and war horse might be going tonight!
I love the escapism and nothing beats watching it on the big screen I do have a 50" hd super duper but I watch all the films in the cinema!!!
I remember when dvd's came put then all the film channels on the television and people thought this will stop people going to the cinema and cinema will close I've never believed it would! I still go weekends or mid week and there still is queues going out the door!!

by serena1, 3 months ago

Its just a bit of light hearted banter!
Relax your sphincter dude you sound a bit uptight to put it politely.

I obviously watch low brow scifi and horror and of course you are far more intelligent of course and watch all the high brow dramas - I got the message a long time ago you dont need to hammer it home. Subtlety dude subtlety!

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Comedy anyone???

by serena1, 3 months ago

Think the last thing I saw was Apocolypto..sat there unable to move in case I threw up and embarrassed myself!!

Couldn't contemplate a horror film, even with someone to cuddle up to....

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

Apocalypto was a fantastic movie great direction by Mel Gibson it really made you think about what it must have been like in the Mayan , Toltec , Aztec era of pure brutality and sun worship!!!

Scary times!

by Omendata, 3 months ago

P.S. The list of films I have seen recently most of them were not seen at the cinema - I never said that Creativesaver.

I have probably watched about 70 since the beginning of the year and the above was all that were half decent!

The argument about piracy and triads is a load of nonsense just about as relevant as the record companies saying torrents destroyed their business - it was their decision to stop making tapes and records that caused their problems , pursuing old grannies and young kids for downloading a few tunes, charging exhorbitant prices for cd's and dvd's and more...

Same story for cinemas and movie makers skinning the public with sky high cinema costs , the big blue ray ripoff, remaking classics that are an insult to the original and again the relentless pursuit of profit and persecuting the downloaders - I wont even mention DRM which is nonsense - Every method they try and introduce just alienates the public even more and in times when money is tight it will just make things worse.

The record and film companies are just as bad as the bankers so hell mend them I am fully in support of the Torrenters!

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Agree apocolypto was fantastic Omen, but it did make me feel ill..if I say I squealed when they killed the boar at the very beginning you get a picture of just how much of a wimp I am..as for the sacrifices, was glued to seat not daring to move!

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

You had better get tough - what are you going to do on 20/12/2012 when the Zombie APOCALYPTO comes a callin!
>;o)

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Erm scream..........? If I'm not tough by now I never will be!!

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

You are so right about the remakes, Omen, it's very rare for any remake to be anywhere near as good as the original! There seems to be more and more of them, why do they even bother?!

by fruitcake, 3 months ago

Yes I cant think of many myself recently except maybe "Let the right one in".

I see they are coining it in again on the 9th with the release of Star Wars in 3d - What a con are they really that hard up for ideas!

But loads of people will go see it.

I have been finagled to go along with the guys!

by Omendata, 3 months ago

My kids want to go too......

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

Talking about films has anyone seen W.E directed by Madonna in my opinion it was fantastic i thoroughly enjoyed it!!
I've always liked Madonna for her singing and her videos are great. When she started or attempted to act i was cringing for her as its not her forte!! So as a director in this film she has really impressed me big time!!!

by serena1, 3 months ago

Omen - Bladerunner is my all-time favourite film. Of recent releases I really enjoyed The Artist. Less recent, An Education was brilliant.

by Sidesalad, 3 months ago

Bladerunner is a classic - strange i didnt rate it much first time i saw it but then i read the book and second time it was much more interesting - A bit like the Omega Man another of my faves.

by Omendata, 3 months ago

I have not seen a film after Sean Connery was no longer 007.
It seems I have not missed much!

by greydo, 3 months ago

At the risk of inviting ridicule from the movie buffs...

The Full Monty
A Clockwork Orange
Sliding Doors
Capricorn 1
Cabaret
The Ladykillers
Dirty Dancing
Brassed Off - my all time favourite
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

And, most recently, The King's Speech. It's rare for me to be able to sit through something that long nowadays without falling asleep but I was absolutely spellbound. And not just because Mr Firth is so delicious, fruits!

by Feline123, 3 months ago

As much as i love all the latest films and love to see them usually once is enough but the following films i can watch over and over are
Gone with the wind, Dr Zchvaigo, Reservior dogs, Cat on a hot tin roof, One flew over the cuckoo's nest, fame, the shining, saw(all of them), exorcist, armageddon, black swan, lion king, as good as it gets, i love most of Quentin Tarantino films and Martin Scorcese oh and i love Period dramas i think corsets are so feminine and quite sexy, i wish i was born in that era!!

by serena1, 3 months ago

I love going to the cinema but's it's just getting so expensive now it's mad! The last film I saw was Sherlock Holmes which was good but not exactly a classic, think the best film I saw last year was King's Speech.

by wowzer88, 3 months ago

Yes last time i went with my pals to see The Thing (After downloading and watching it beforehand - so much for torrents stopping people from going to the cinema) - I bought a box of popcorn and it cost £5 - no wonder people buy stuff outside the cinema and take it in - I remember when Butterkist popcorn in a bag was 99p.

I suppose they will say it makes up for all the money they loose in people not going to the cinema!

hey ho who knows but i know next time i am taking a can of coke and a packet of butterkist hidden in my leather jacket!

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Thats what I do if I take the four kids with me :)

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

Must be horrendously expensive doing anything with 4 kids my goodness...Your weekly wage must be emptied from your wallet in one outing lol

I never thought I would say this but in your case " Thank goodness for the xbox360 and Ps3".
>)

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Can be very very expensive I have to say, but they're worth it (most of the time) And sssshhhh, we've only got ps2, they're deprived!!

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

LOL Deprived very good Jazz very good.

You have brought a smile to my moaning old fizzog today and for that I sincerely thank you m'am.

by Omendata, 3 months ago

I hate the smell of popcorn in the cinema foyer. It's disgusting!!

by Sidesalad, 3 months ago

Really i think its luvvly....

Now the smell of urine in the toilets thats another thing.

Why do they never clean the toilets in the cinema at least at my cinema!

by Omendata, 3 months ago

I'm with you on that Sidesalad i hate the smell of popcorn! I never have liked it and my mother used to make it quite often never been a fan i love my bag of maltesers and can of irn bru!!

by serena1, 3 months ago

Gosh omen what cinema do you go to? Cinema i go to is quite clean with a sheet on the wall signed hourly when its last checked and cleaned...

by serena1, 3 months ago

EK

by Omendata, 3 months ago

I never go there as i hear quite a lot of neds hang out there... I actually don't go to EK even with the new extension here it is so handy but habit to go to my original place. I'm loyal to my cinema as i know most of the staff and the service is good!

by serena1, 3 months ago

off to the cinema now...

by serena1, 3 months ago

Ek is the nicest place to go shopping thats a terrible newton mearns attitude.

East kilbride people are the nicest in Glasgow I know I have worked there on and off for most of my career - genuine down to earth and real people unlike the snobbery , one upmanship and falseness of the mearnsite's - present company excepted of course - Everyone at my work says mearns people are horrible and although not all of them most of them are especially the incomers - I was actually a bit wary when they asked where i came from so at first i just said southside - Now they know im sure there is a bit of negativity from some.

Same sort of thing when you tell a Newcastle buddy you come from Kensington or Sloan Square i would imagine.

I have seen it first hand - ordinary decent folks move in and soon become corrupted with the mearns belief that they are better than anyone else just because of where they live. Scared to mix with what they would perceive as "neds" or just ordinary folk - the Avenue was created specially for them - I rmemeber when it was just a big red brick "shopping centre" with Shoppers Paradise and Tempo tapes and the old Andersons garage - Michelle Mone lives just round the corner from me and she originally came from Hairy Maryhill and is a real snob now with a nasty case of OCD.

Mearns is full of people like that and all the criminals from Glasgow live in Whitecraigs - All the heroin dealers and fraudsters etc - When i worked for CID you wouldnt believe the number of gangsters living in whitecraigs - the only place that could match it would be Bothwell.

by Omendata, 3 months ago

I've only ever visited EK twice in my life i.e more than 10 years ago. I'm so used to travelling into the city centre its just habit i suppose but i have heard around EK in the cinema and around the ice rink there usually is a group of teenagers girls hang about and want to fight each other i hear this from my clients. The kids that go to Mearns schools all hang about Ek and get up to no good with one and another not to the shops or vandalising just with rivalry with the schools. I do go to silverburn regularly and love it as i find it really handy but EK cinema i've never been to. I don't really go to the avenue believe or not i'm lucky if i go in once a month i rather give my business to my local coop again the staff are very friendly and know my face and very customer friendly.

I know what you mean when you tell folk where you stay and come from they automatically have this reaction but my friends and clients all say i'm not like a typical Newton Mearns person not a snob in the slightest. I believe its the way you are brought up. I'm very grounded because of what i've been through and work very hard always have done to bring up my daughter. I've brought her up to be very grounded too.

by serena1, 3 months ago

Glad to hear it so you go to the co-op at the Broom shops!

Hate to tell you this but it used to be a very bad place for trouble at night especially in the car park behind the shops - Have you not noticed the covert surveillance camera near the shops - nobody I know has noticed any of the cameras lol which can only be a good thing - then there were the gang fights and drug taking underneath the castle and on the steps going up to Mearns Castle high school - the police officers i know dread coming into the mearns especially the broom because of all the old snobs complaining qabout young people makingnoise and having fun - thats what young people do!!!

You might be surprised - if you treat them well and make an effort to talk to them you will find many of them are just bored but yes i know what you mean a lot of the schoolkids are to be blunt "rich spoiled little pri*** and pri**esses"

lol
Its a funny old world isnt it!

Old folks to scared to go out because of young people.

And young people with no respect for old people!

Which came first though the chicken or the egg?

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Well i spotted the cameras only because the police have been outside the shops for weeks! Did you hear there were 3 break ins within a week? The post office twice which the poor woman thats worked there as long as i remember over 20 years at least was held up with a shot gun and the off license too. So there is only one camera at the corner and the guys were saying that the cctv is not that great as its surrounded by the leaves around about which gets in the way and also its not always pointed in the right direction. The kids have never bothered me as i always know this and that person no doubt i do their mum or sister's waxing! Lol! I've always supported the shops i know its a bit more expensive but the guys are nice, service quick and no long queues in asda! Much more convenient for me!

by serena1, 3 months ago

Yes the wee hippie guy with the beard is a great chap and yes i do agree they are very nice and good service but the prices im afraid are quite dear!

Having said that I know a lot of the Asda staff by name and there are a lot of characters like the old doter guy who takes extra time to pack all the bags and offers extra assitance but takes twice as long through the till lol

Yes I heard about the armed holdup of the post office if i had been there I would have given him a good kicking the ladies in the post office are quite lovely.

There was a murder on christmas eve a good few years ago right outside the broom shops!

I was going to buy the flat above Peckhams years ago - glad i didnt now!

by Omendata, 3 months ago

I know Roger well the guy in Asda! The guy in coop is Elliot know him. There's quite a few girls in Asda are my clients and I know the guys in there one is a friend was out with the group in Asda not that long ago!
It's a small world right enough eh?!!

by serena1, 3 months ago

Indeed it is my favoruite at Asda is Stephen - he looks a bit chinese short cropped dark hair - do you do him as well?

>;-o

Roger thats the one!

Small world indeed.

Bet I have seen you at the Broom shops now and again but never saw the red hat! You probably live up Castleton drive or off Blackhouse road I bet or are you minted and live in Whitecraigs!lol

Watching IF! at the moment another great movie with Malcolm McDowell - great actor but like Dirk Bogarde always gave me the creeps.

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Lol! Your probably never been looking out hard enough for a red hat!!! Lol!
Yes I have seen Stephen but don't know him to talk to.
How weird all this has been you better watch I might go into shock again!!! Lol

by serena1, 3 months ago

Minted I wish!! Wouldn't be working all the hours under the sun!! What are you like guessing my whereabouts lol!!

by serena1, 3 months ago

Gosh Omen if you thought I was minted in whitecraigs you would class me in with the gangsters dealing in drugs...

by serena1, 3 months ago

I bought the Kings Speech but didn't like it at all.

by Sabre, 3 months ago

Not seen that Sabre

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

That's a shame Sabre you didn't like it I loved the kings speech maybe you needed to watch it on the big screen...

by serena1, 3 months ago

Dirk Bogarde gives you the creeps, Omen?! He was a wonderful actor...Victim, The Servant, Death in Venice...he was magnificent in those! Very goodlooking too.

Malcolm McDowell, though, he scares me too...Clockwork Orange and Caligula probably to blame for that...great actor, but, yes, creepy!

by fruitcake, 3 months ago

Your mention of Malcolm McDowell reminds me of another favourite, fruits. 'If' was agreat film, if a little disturbing.

by Feline123, 3 months ago

"Watching IF! at the moment another great movie with Malcolm McDowell - great actor but like Dirk Bogarde always gave me the creeps"

Dlol

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Oh, yes, Feline, 'If' is a great film, allegorical and anarchic! If I remember rightly, Lindsay Anderson couldn't even get funding for it in the UK...hmm!

by fruitcake, 3 months ago

Interesting, fruits, I didn't know that, but I'm not surprised,

by Feline123, 3 months ago

BTW, could I make a suggestion, in the nicest possible way, guys?

Every day I get literally 100's of notifications, which take absolutely ages to scroll through. Please could I ask that those of you who want to discuss cinemas in EK or other areas of Glasgow, do so via the message facility.

It's great to talk, but some stuff is not interesting to all of us. ;-)

by Feline123, 3 months ago

Oops sorry feline i too get 100's of messages but I prize each and every one of them you lovely people!

I read each with consummate scrutiny.

>@-()

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Sorry, Omen, didn't mean to sound churlish, but I feel compelled to read all the posts in case I miss something (!)and it's taking so long that the housework is suffering and poor old Mr F is in danger of getting cheese on toast for his tea every night!

by Feline123, 3 months ago

Sorry Feline i suppose we just get carried away!!

by serena1, 3 months ago

I must agree i spend far too long on here and indeed my diy and computing tasks are taking extra long to complete.

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Sorry, put my last posting in the wrong place, which sort of proves my point about all the notifications getting unmanageable!

by Feline123, 3 months ago

Tell me about it i'm all over the place with the posts!! Lol

by serena1, 3 months ago

Thanks, serena - now waits anxiously to see if this turns up in the right place.....

by Feline123, 3 months ago

Yes!!!!!

by Feline123, 3 months ago

Whooppee!!

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

I used to go to the cinema a lot, but not so often these days because I'm not into the big blockbuster films, they are so often just special effects and no actual story! Or romcoms, and I really hate those! There's a multiplex about 15 mins drive from me, but any of the more interesting films they have on...they only show for a week, whereas the standard fare is on for weeks, so infuriating! There are a couple of other multiplexes nearby, but they don't have car parks.

I'd like to see more than I do, but I hate going on my own, and it's hard to find someone who likes the same genres of films that I like. These days, though, they're out on dvd very quickly, and it's often cheaper to buy the dvd from a supermarket or Amazon than to pay the entry price for the cinema.

If I do go with a friend to the cinema, then there's rarely more than half a dozen people in the auditorium, that's how non mainstream the films are that I like! :-)

I like a lot of foreign films too, and so many people hate subtitles, but I don't mind them at all. There are a couple of independent cinemas not far from me, that show more interesting films, but they are in places where it's hard to park, and the admission prices are very high.

by fruitcake, 3 months ago

I absolutely love the foreign films! I wish they would have more of the french, spanish and japanese films! My usual cinema has got a new foreign film out just on fri and its in polish!! I don't know if i fancy that no info on it.

by serena1, 3 months ago

Shame you live so far from me, Serena, I can rarely find anyone who will happily watch a foreign film! Sounds like you've got similar tastes to me!

by fruitcake, 3 months ago

I would've gladly be your cinema buddy if only you were nearby!
I find foreign films much more interesting such good story lines! I prefer deep meaningful films thrillers and horrors. Fruity i will say if you fancy seeing a film i would go on my own and so many folk i know do it i also find it a struggle for friends to watch films i like they all like their chick flicks i prefer other films to chick films.

by serena1, 3 months ago

Yes I must admit i find French films absolutely fascinating - Alain Delon is very much underrated.

Also Korean and Japanese movies some are just so different in their ideas its like a breath of Fresh air - "Old Man" classic Korean movie with an unbelievable ending never would have figured it out I like those type of movies!

Movies these days are either so predicatable or poorly conceived remakes - there doesnt seem to be much originality!

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Yep, you're right, I should go on my own to see them, but I just like having someone to chat about it with afterwards...then again, maybe if I did go, there might be someone else there that feels the same way... :-)

by fruitcake, 3 months ago

Yes I like Catherine denevue. I loved the Japanese film my last concubine that was amazing!

by serena1, 3 months ago

I've always liked Alain Delon and Jean Reno...Leon is a favourite, and Flyboys! Alain Delon was drop dead gorgeous when he was young! And I like Catherine Deneuve too.

by fruitcake, 3 months ago

Catherine Deneuve always gave me the creeps.

Last Concubine was very good.

I thought Tom Cruise was very good in the Last Samurai - magnificent movie!

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Agreed! Crouching tiger hidden dragon was good!

by serena1, 3 months ago

Really? I love Catherine Deneuve, beautiful and talented!

I can't stand Tom Cruise...I haven't seen The Last Samurai, but I've hated every film with Tom Cruise in it...apart from Rain Man, and Interview With A Vampire, and Rain Man was down to Dustin Hoffman!

by fruitcake, 3 months ago

I loved Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon...it's in my dvd collection.

by fruitcake, 3 months ago

I agree fruity Catherine denevue is a great actress! I'm not a fan of Tom cruise myself but the last samurai was good and I also liked the latest mission impossible I hated him in jerry macguire

by serena1, 3 months ago

The Last Concubine was a really beautiful film, I keep meaning to read the book, never got around to it!

by fruitcake, 3 months ago

The book is even better but then books usually are anyway I find! I find it best to watch a film first so you won't be disappointed!

by serena1, 3 months ago

Dont think Tom is a particularly good actor but Last Samurai was very good.

I tell you who is a really good actor - played Shinzon in my favourite Trek movie - Nemesis - Tom Hardy - What a performance as Bronson but what a small Penis i would have been embarrassed to star in that movie if I were him!
lol
>;o)

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Lol! I thought it was just woman that took note of those finer details shall we say, Omen?!

by serena1, 3 months ago

The books are always better, Serena, I agree totally with you on that. I try never to see a film if I haven't read the book first, so I'm generally disappointed with the film!

Tom Hardy, yes, he was brilliant in the most recent tv version of Wuthering Heights...amazing in that!

by fruitcake, 3 months ago

I rather think Tom hardy is cute loved him in wuthering heights!

by serena1, 3 months ago

He's got an interesting mouth! :-)

by fruitcake, 3 months ago

Very defined nose... :)

by serena1, 3 months ago

I love how women skirt around the outside of saying the brutal truth - interesting mouth , defined nose , nice ears - Ugly bugger you really mean.
>;o)

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Actually I find Tom Hardy sexy! Lol! X

by serena1, 3 months ago

Lol, Omen, Tom Hardy is certainly not conventionally goodlooking, but I wouldn't say he was an 'ugly bugger'...he's got an interesting face! And there is something sexy about him, I agree, Serena!

by fruitcake, 3 months ago

No i think hes ok not bad looking but very good as Shinzon in Trek Nemesis!

Just winding you girls up!
lol

by Omendata, 3 months ago

That's ok omen you can wind us up anytime you do anyway...

by serena1, 3 months ago

Thanks, serena and Omen. No need to apologise - I actually felt a bit guilty after I'd posted that as I'm sure I witter on sometimes....

by Feline123, 3 months ago

Sorry, post put in wrong place - please scroll down to see where it should have been!

by Feline123, 3 months ago

Kelleys Heroes was terrific.

I have to go such a long way to see a film.

by Sabre, 3 months ago

It's ten mile or so to my nearest and it costs a fortune..

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

I take it for granted everyone has a cinema nearby! Do you go often sabre?

by serena1, 3 months ago

Hmmm..I have next to nothing for ten miles

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

Jazzj there's always a day that is cheaper than normal and before midday showings are cheaper. Now I hear if you sign up online to a cinema you book online it's cheaper again...

by serena1, 3 months ago

Before midday?? Who are you kidding?? My cinema doesn't open until the evening.......

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

And if you're going to show off about having a big multiplex with a choice of films you can forget it!! :)

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

Sorry, its a real bugbear of mine! Our best 'local' cinema now has three films a week showing..yippee....................

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

Lol!! Ok I won't... It's not a big multiplex just 18 halls six floors... Lol! Any consolation at least your saving money if it was nearby with the four children you would be constantly forking out... Maybe I should move near you!! :)

by serena1, 3 months ago

18 halls??? You taking the mick?? We had eight in the town I lasted lived in and thought that was good!!

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

Seriously Jazzj! 18 halls six levels three lifts and escalators it's the largest here but there is so many cinema up here!!

by serena1, 3 months ago

I'm not sure I'd ever decide what to watch..........

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

I just work my way down the list! So many choices!!

I love Kelly's Heroes too, Sabre, must have seen it dozens of times and never get bored of it, think I just about know the script!:-)

Ah the Renfield street Multiplex its horrible I absolutely hate it.

I always loved the ABC in Argly Street , Odeon on Renfield Street, Abc at Muirend (Now Posh Flats) and the best of all the Scala in Argyle street - All gone to be replace by these tiny corporate unfriendly and cold wee cinema rooms.

I remember the days people smoked in the cinema!
lol

Long time ago!

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Yes I loved the odeon renfield st and in muirend I knew Frank in muirend do you remember the wee old guy that was strange but nice?
I love the Cineworld in Renfrew st the staff are so nice! It's never cold in there.
I love the Gft too as it shows the foreign films.

by serena1, 3 months ago

Yeah I remember Frank et al at Muirend the last day was so sad - genuine family owned cinema it was a real shame!

Aye thats the one I mean Cineworld its horrible - small cold and nasty and most of the ushers and people serving are all asylum seekers its a right corporate dive. As for all those stairs....

Yeah GFT in Rose street is about the only decent cinema left in Glasgow - You really should try the EK cinema it reminds me of the ABC in Argyle Street and its always quiet - I hate a packed cinema with people rustling , playing the popcorn-penis game and bobbing up and down in their chairs its so annoying - not to mention the dillwa\ds that turn up half an hour into the film and push their way up the aisle wandering around trying to get a good posish to watch the movie and inevitably sitting right next to me and then talking through the whole movie it always happens to me!!!!

by Omendata, 3 months ago

I might try EK one of these days but hey we might end up next to each other and never know!!!
Cineworld is honestly warm no asylum seekers working in there I promise you! It's genuine students that go to uni well most of them!
I hate seat kickers even though it's not my seat but the next one I hate the distraction!! If I'm not comfortable with noise I have seen me getting up and turning around and telling them to button it!!

Very rarely go Serena a long way away and once we get settled in for the evening we don't feel like going all that way. We usually buy some from the supermarket or I video lots of what we like.

You three sound as if you are getting very cosily together, Serena, Jazzj and Omen. I can just see you in the cinema sat holding hands and eating your pop corn.

by Sabre, 3 months ago

Unfortunately Sabre I'm not one for threesomes... Lol

by serena1, 3 months ago

ROFL Serena, me neither!!! Thanks for that, you cheered me up :)

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

How about a foursome or even fivesome - hey we can invite Side-Ochra and even have a six-some.
>;o)

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Your place or my place? Lol...

by serena1, 3 months ago

Your place is a bit far from mine, but thanks for the invitation.....

by Jazzj, 3 months ago

I got the hint, Jazzj! Don't say I didn't offer...

by serena1, 3 months ago

Just watched "The Time Travellers Wife" tonight and must admit I did have a small (very small) tear in my eye at the end - Most excellent film I must say very different take on the time travelling theme!

Ahem

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Ah bless you, Omen... You have a heart after all... It's like wizard of oz all over again!
I loved the film i enjoyed the book after i watched the film.

by serena1, 3 months ago

I think I might get the book is it as good as the film?

What you mean after all?

Lol

Nothing wrong with having a small weep at a movie as long as its not a full all out bawling match.

Men have feelings too!
hehe

Not into the Macho rubbish!

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Yes get the book it's good!!
A wee weep is fine as long as your discreet "something in the eye" I usually get when a watch a film with a male!
I'll confess to you I also had a weep today as I watch "the descendants" with George Clooney it was so sad!!! You must watch that in private! Lol!

by serena1, 3 months ago

It was just a bit of pepper in my eye - I spilled the whole pot on my pizza as I left the top loose!

Honest!
>;o)

by Omendata, 3 months ago

Heard that old chestnut too!! Lol nothing goes by me, Omen!!
