We have heard "where to avoid". What about where to visit?
It is West wales for me!!
I can recommend North Wales, Llyn Peninsula for a UK holiday and Lanzarote for overseas holiday, although must confess I am rather biased !!
I like Northumberland greydo, lots to see and do there.
Also Yorkshire, Warwickshire, Derbyshire and my own county of Norfolk.
In fact the whole of the UK has some points of interest wonderful scenery and of course a wealth of history to offer.
I still have so many places yet to visit, mainly on the west coast of England, hopefully in time I'll eventually get around to it.
I agree, Lillie, the whole of the UK is full of beautiful and interesting places to visit. Despite all the doom and gloom, I think we're very lucky to live here. Just a shame the weather isn't a bit more reliable!
Do try to get round to the west coast, you'll love it.
Yes I would love to Feline. As you say the weather is a little off putting but if we worry about it too much we would never go anywhere.
I would also love to go to the Lake District and can't believe I've never been, so a concerted effort is needed.
I love Norfolk, Wales, The Dales, Derbyshire, North Yorkshire and also too many to name. We have a caravan so usually try and visit most of the above at least once a year often staying for three week's on small sites which only hold five caravans. These have very little facilities which we don't use anyway and I hate large sites with nightclubs etc. We go for the quietness of the surrounding Countryside and enjoy all the nature places. One of our favourite is Pensthorpe in Norfolk where Spring Watch came from the other year. You can spend the whole day there without seeing anything twice. A magical place and one which we hope to see this year
again.
We have been down South to St. Ives and all the wonderful areas round there and I went on a helicopter ride and also had a flight on a four seater plane which I have no desire to repeat. We caravanned a few miles from St. Ives and it brought back memories of when I was 17 and went with my best friend in her triumph herald convertible and had a whale of a time. Also I have quite a lot of family in Somerset we go there too but not caravanning.
Sometimes we have a holiday only about 10 miles from home at a place called Stoney Creek where we can sit and watch all the birds coming in to land and the seals. It's a very restful holiday and very interesting.
Well Sabre,I would avoid flying I think! You have been to some lovely places!
I won't fly again, greydo, despite having flown all over the world in the past. The UK will do for me, and the continent when we can go by train.
I got my passport renewed a couple of year's ago but haven't used it to go on a plane but on a cruise. I don't think I shall be using it again as my husband hasn't renewed his and I think it very unlikely that he ever will so I think we will stick to British holidays which we thoroughly enjoy.
Thanks greydo. I would like to go back to Cyprus one day but can't see me doing so or Tenerife which I went to with a close friend and we had a great time at first until she met someone and cleared off with him for most of the holiday and left me on my own which wasn't very enjoyable.
That's when you really find out who's a friend isn't it??
Thanks for the recommendations, I've not travelled England much, or Europe come to that! I used to love Thailand Singapore and Hong Kong pre-children, and would happily go anywhere in France or Italy
sabre thats when too is company and three is not a crowd responding to a nightmare in tenerife
Hi bluej. I was very disappointed to be left on my own as it's difficult to pal up with other people who are together but I survived and vowed I would never go away with that friend again. I should have known really as her friend had done it to her and she complained bitterly about it and said "she would never do that to anyone".
I had a friend who always did that to me at nightclubs, so when she suggested a holiday I refused! Nothing than fair weather friends is there??
You've just brought memories back Jazzj. I was with this friend at a club when she met someone and when it was time to leave she said she wouldn't be long just wanted to talk to him. I sat in the middle of town in my car waiting an hour for her but then decided to get myself off home as I had a long way to go. When I got home I gave her a call just to see if she had reached home and she was ok and low and behold the chap had driven her home straight away from the club and she didn't even let me know.
Oooh B*tch!!
its a very long road that has no bends she will want you before you will ever want her sabre
I probably should have said bluej that she sadly died a few year's ago. She lost her husband when she was only in her early forties so she had had it very rough and I suppose she was grasping at a bit of happiness.
I'd've thought a long term friend would bring more happiness than a short fling. Never had a holiday romance but can understand the attraction of it
VERY SORRY TO HERE SUCH SAD NEWS SABRE
Holiday romance - ah those were the days Jazzj !!!
God I haven't lived!!
Don't know when Sabre, at the moment I've always got at least one child with me!
Slovakia - Presov
Austria - Vienna
Czech Republic - Prague
Ibiza - Calla Longha
Japan - Osaka
Italy - Malcesine

Nice to hear from you Wendi, what's the weather like there at the moment?
It's cold, grey and damp here on the east coast, still a great contrast from this time last year.
Hi LILLIE, well it's been a bit cloudy for a couple of days and yesterday it actually rained!!! First rain since early November and it was 20 minutes of torrential downpour so the roads vanished into lakes and there was chaos for a whole hour till the sun magically dried it all up. We got drenched, but we're not complaining - water is non existent here so it was welcomed by all. Temps 20 degrees by day and apx 14 at night. Basically it's wonderful in every way and we don't ever want to leave!
Hi wendiew, sounds lovely, not jealous in the slightest, even though we had hail and a few flakes of snow today..............nice to hear from you x
