According to the news today a Police Officer condemned a company director for driving at speeds of 147 m.p.m. in his Jaguar XKR on the Malton by pass in North Yorkshire.
He said the man's total disregard for his own safety and the safety of other road users beggers belief.
You have to ask the question exactly what this man. aged 68,was thinking of. And to receive a mere £700 fine and a nine month ban ... that does beggar belief. He was caught driving at twice the legal limit and refused to sign the police paperwork and simply drove off. That is not only contempt for the police but contempt for every other road user. It would be interesting to know exactly what he has to do in a motor car, apart from death by dangerous driving, to actually get banged up? Frankly, that's what he deserved ... the fact that he didn't actually hurt anyone is just academic.
Un-bloody-believable!
Good Lord it's staggering that he survived to pay the paltry fine and didn't end up in a field upside down.
What a show off he deserves to jailed and handed a life sentence of driving nothing larger than 'Smart Car'.
That would indeed be a fitting punishment, Lillie!
At the risk of upsetting anyone, I think a Robin Reliant would be appropriate.........
Now then Jazzj my late lovely Father had a Robin Reliant. mmmmmmmmmm I won't say any more other than his driving caused my Mum to row with him every time we went out. I remember him going straight through red lights on many occasions - no I bloody didn't he would say. He sometimes drove into other cars in the car park fortunately not doing any damage. I remember when we
came out on to a main road and a 40 ton lorry had to pass us fast as we were almost under the wheels. Once he
caught the turn up in his trousers on the gear stick and we went flying round the corner. Goodness knows how we weren't killed.
I often have a giggle at how terrible a driver he was and fortunately for him when you had passed your motor bike test you could drive a Robin Reliant. Or was it fortunate. When he drove there were only half the people of the road he would never have passed his test if he had had to take one.
Oh Sabre, just had such a giggle at your Dad flying round the corner with his turn up caught on the gearstick...reminds me of Frank Spencer doing his motorbike test on Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em! :-)
Good to see you survived to tell the tale Sabre.
These days I'd have problems getting in and out of anything small.
Me too, Lillie!
Honestly fruity he was lethal it was just like a comedy act.
Bless him he tried so hard but didn't realise how bad he was and have you ever dared criticise your Father ?
Lillie are you on Omega 3 fish oil? I'm on that every day and glucosamine and I think it's helped enormously. Let me know if you want the name of a very reasonable online Company.
Lol, Sabre...yes, I dared sometimes, but somehow I always came off worst! :-)

I totally agree, Snoops, if he wants to risk his own life by driving at such speeds he could do it 'safely' on a race track, he definitely deserved a prison sentence.
Should have been jailed but you know they are trying to stop people going into prison as there isnt the capacity or the money to afford it.
Amazing isnt it that capacity and money dictate who and who dont go to prison now - no wonder the criminal's are laughing.
I totally agree with all your postings. He must be laughing at the Police force. A £700 fine is nothing to a man who has a Jag. He should have had a three year ban at the very least. He is very lucky he didn't kill someone else. Have no sympathy if he killed himself but why should someone else be subjected to a maniac on the road like him. Once again the legal system has let us down and he's got away with it.
Too true Sabre!
