new card after mine expired and a replacement failed to arrive. Each time they tell me they have arranged for it to be posted and each time I chase it hasn't been done! Soooo fed up, they're always 'so sorry to hear you're disappointed'..disappointed doesn't even begin to cover how I feel!! Stupidly its my only debit card account (yes I know we've discussed this recently and opening a new account is on my to-do list honest)so I am now stuck without any access to my account since the beginnning of the month and small mattter of Christmas etc coming up..

Sorry for the rant, I feel a bit better now :)

I'd be furious too especially when it's nearly Christmas. Hope you get sorted soon and make sure you get another card and also hide that money in your car so you are never without. Too serious not to be forgotten as you never know when you will need it. Put a couple of £10 notes and some silver in a purse then you have something on you,

Thats one thing I did do following your post Sabre, so have a few quid at least

by Jazzj, 5 months ago

Funnily enough I went out in the car today and left my purse on the kitchen table, luckly I had £15 in the well plus a purse I hide so I was ok.

by Sabre, 5 months ago

Really good idea Sabre, glad I started doing it! Now all we've got to do is remember to replaced it when we spend it :)

by Jazzj, 5 months ago

If I had hidden cash, I'd only forget where I'd put it! :-)

by fruitcake, 5 months ago

You'd think they would make a special effort when they know Christmas is getting close, Jazzj, especially as it's clearly their fault for not sending you the replacement promptly in the first place!

I think you're entitled to have a rant!

Hope it arrives very soon.

Of course you know the answer - move your account. However, if your card expired, and they did not send you a replacement well in advance, then maybe they don't want you as a customer.

by ollygark, 5 months ago

Unfortunately moving the account - which I am obviosuly going to do - will take as long as waiting for a new card to arrive, so is not a solution. The card was apparently sent to me mid Oct but failed to arrive

How frustrating for you Jazzj. I would be so tempted to go and camp out on the steps of their Head office and not move until the issue is sorted.
As it's impractical and so cold now all I suspect you can do is threaten to change banks and hope they speed things up.
It really is poor service in this day and age.

by LILLIE, 5 months ago

Its appalling, really is. And its an Indian call centre so I can rant all I want but all they do is stick to their script!

by Jazzj, 5 months ago

Try calling again, jazzj, and DEMAND to speak to a call centre advisor in the UK. I understand they are legally bound to comply with this request.

When Christmas is over and you can get round to thinking of changing banks I would strongly recommend RBS. Lovely, sympathetic lads and lassies in a Scottish call center, and a very helpful website.

by Feline123, 5 months ago

Funny you should say that Feline..I have just done that today and they are equally frustrating......! Yet again I've been told my card has yet to be ordered!!

by Jazzj, 5 months ago

get it sent to the nearest branch to you and then go pick it up, they send them there really quickly :)

by EmmaMarie, 5 months ago

Takes longer to get to the branch than it does to get to my house apparently EM

by Jazzj, 5 months ago

Nope, would have more luck plaiting fog :(

by Jazzj, 5 months ago

Not heard that saying before Jazzj!!

by Sabre, 5 months ago

should really not take more than a week for them to send it out to you...

In theory 3-5 working days CC, if they'd've sent when first requested i wouldn't've had a problem, but no one actually does what they say they will. EWorst servcie ever encountered

by Jazzj, 5 months ago

yes 3-5 working days...but allow 7 in total... maybe request an emergency card??

Thanks for all your interest in this. My card has FINALLY arrived today, 12 days after I first requested it!! Just got to activate it now.

Next question, whihc bank would you recommend I swap to? Feline suggested RBS, but haven't got a brnahc anywhere near me.

by Jazzj, 5 months ago

So glad you have finally got it. I am with Halifax for current account and find them extremely good with no charges.

by Sabre, 5 months ago

Just noticed my interesting spelling of branch......

Cannot tell you how pleased I am to have it Sabre, have two birthdays tomorrow and the cupboard is literally bare, and I've yet to do any Christmas shopping.

Yes it really IS that bad! Thanks for halifax suggestion, will look to see where nearest branch is

by Jazzj, 5 months ago

I find the Halifax good too, their customer service used to be a bit so-so, but it's improved hugely over the last couple of years.

So glad to hear you've finally got your card at last, Jazzj!

Still in my ongoing battle with HSBC, they told me they have eight weeks to reply to my complaint?? When I mentioned the banking ombudsman they offered me £10 (a tenner?? I spent more than that on blasted phone calls!) They've now upped it to £50, but still don't seem to appreciate its not abour compensation!

by Jazzj, 5 months ago

Grab the £50 Jazzj before they withdraw the offer. I know it's not about compensation but you can buy something nice for Christmas for £50 and laugh when you know you are going to change your Bank in the New Year. You will never get them to understand all the hassle and frustration you have had as they are too thick to realise that this has happened. Enjoy your unexpected £50 I would. p.s. Buy yourself a couple of lottery tickets and have the last laugh if they come to fruition.

by Sabre, 5 months ago

I think you're right about taking the money Sabre, and nothing to stop me taking to ombudsman anyway. To be honest, I've got enough battles going on at the moment without looking for more, so I'll just take the moeny and change to the halifax in the new year. Never ever done the lottery, maybe its about time I started!!
