Thus encouraging people to stand outside and queue up in the cold at an unearthly hour.
I never understood the marketing ploy behind this practice.
Can anyone help me to fathom this one? Thanks.
Propaganda Lillie! I think these companies release dates to hype the product they are selling and they go one further the dates they release they do it at 00.01 hours!! Which entices people to camp outside the premises (i've never done it and it does not appeal to me i love my sleep too much to contemplate it)! Then the product they sell are in the newspapers mags radio etc highlighting the numbers of the item sold etc making others who may have a slight interest in buying the product will then rush out and get it so they don't feel left out.
I think we as a nation can easily be sucked into the media advertising and marketing ploys.
Not certain, but might be that it has to be set for a certain date, so they are in effect opening sales at 00:00:01 (1 second past on that date) to maximise first day sales.
Thanks ladies and Marco, seems like a potty idea to me but then the profiteers are probably having the last laugh.
hi i think its to create a buzz around the game, it creates a need to be first for the earlie adopters. I t doesnt help when you have a 15 year old step child having a tantrum to have the game at midnight because they cant wait till the morning!!
Thanks for that Jackie.
I sympathise.
As I also have a son who was adamant he wanted to be one of the first to have this game. He's over 30 and couldn't wait for his birthday two weeks later when his wife would have bought it for him...oh why I cry????
hi LILLIE i totally agree, as it goes for the four hours of tantrum and door banging that was endured, after 30 minutes of playing the game it was put away because he didnt like it!. After all. lol
man is like the kids sometimes ,aha !me too !

Thanks Serena, yes it would take more than a book or game to get me out of my bed on a cold dark night.
We are not easily mis led are we Lillie!! :)
Yes I saw that on the news this morning Lillie. It's one of those games that some people said they go on for hours and hours. I wouldn't personally bother to go out in the cold for one myself but I bet there are thousands there tomorrow.
I'm more the 'wait until the price has dropped' sort of person!
Me too, Jazzj!
I'll second that, girls!
