Elderly holiday makers

by , 6 months ago

How sad today to read of the death of an elderly couple from Bootle, Liverpool who were hit by a wall of water as they sat outside a cafe in the town of Finestrat on the
Coasta Blanca and dragged away in the strong currents.
There seems to be so many accidents and deaths now whilst people are abroad but
I suppose it's because thousands of people enjoy their holidays abroad and we hear
more about the accidents and deaths than if they had happened in our own Country

Sorry about the sentences being short but for some reason
it always happens when I send a posting. It looks perfectly
alright before it appears

Sabre, Re 'short' sentences.... when you type your posts do you press 'enter' (like the old-style carriage return) when you reach the end of the line you're typing in the box? This might be why your posts get broken up - try just typing continually, the way the site is set up it will put your words into correct length lines that fit. Maybe that'll help - praps ???

It's a very sad story.
I don't think that we hear any more of tragic deaths abroad than before, but the press has always liked a story with drama such as this or the poor man killed by a shark recently. Had this couple died in less unusual or dramatic circumstances it would not have got a mention in the news whether here or abroad.

We seem to hear quite a lot of people falling from their
balconies or groups of lads falling of if they've had too
much to drink. The Shark story was awful and I see today
that in Australia a man has been left dead after a white shark tore him to pieces. Poor man he was the unlucky one as he was with a diving party and only he got attacked. They are now looking for the white shark to kill it.

Yes it's very sad Sabre, I don't think anyone expects that they're not coming back from holiday.

However I think It pays to take out an insurance policy as repatriation fees whether seriously ill or deceased are extortionate.

Yes, it was a very sad story, Sabre. I think we only hear about them more than we used to because reporting happens almost instantly these days with the internet and mobile phones etc.
