I wonder how this will affect Apple's meteoric rise to the very top of
the business world having lost the world's no:1 company CEO.

It's very sad news. There is no question that Steve Jobs did amazing work at Apple and bought a sense of design and a quest for perfection in its products that made them so sought after. I believe that he had already put in place a management structure that will continue his work and it will be interesting to see how the company performs over the next couple of years and whether it can still produce market leading innovation and design.

A very sad day today when we learned Steve Jobs' has lost his
battle to live having suffered from Pancreatic Cancer. He had a
wonderful and vibrant personality and will be a great loss to
millions of people. I shall always think of him when I am typing
my postings on one of his Mac Apple Computers and also my Apple
Ipod which gives me a great deal of happiness. So just to say thank you to him for all he achieved.

Just to add that every time I put my Mac computer on
today there is a lovely picture of Steve Jobs showing
his life span.

I don't even have a Mac, I'm a PC girl, but it's still very sad.

Very sad when such a talented person dies so young. I think Apple will continue from strength to strength with the legacy he has left them

I was particularly touched to hear Bill Gates making an affectionate tribute to his biggest rival.

Yes CS a sad day indeed. The world has lost a great contributor, so young too.

It is a curious thing when apples are so integral in the development of humankind.

First Adam and Eve and the apple in the garden of Eden and the introduction of sin into the world!

Second the apple that fell from the tree for Issac Newton to begin the process of understanding gravity and its implications for a host of discoveries.

Thirdly, the Beatles record label 'Apple' that allowed a band from Liverpool to dominate and greatly influence music and fashion globally.

Lastly, Apple inc., that Steve Job's co-founded and how this revoluntionised and forever changed the world of technology, design and consumer demand and hype.

He was a supreme showman, who's vision and ideas have changed and developed vast aspects of the modern world.

RIP - Mr. Job's.

I am not so sure this will have a massive initial impact on Apple given that he had retired several months ago, which at the time, had a huge negative impact on Apples share price. This drop in share price was purely financial markets realising that the genius that created a set of hugely innovative products would of course leave the future of Apple with many questions to answer. I am sure the legacy that he has left at the company will continue, but of course I imagine the innovation won't continue at the rate of when Jobs was in his prime.

As one reporter most appropriately said:

'Steve Jobs designed immaculate products that consumers wanted, before consumers knew they wanted them, and for this, he will always be remembered'

I don't own any Apple products, but I was saddened by the death of Steve Jobs at such a relatively young age, particularly as I lost a good friend to pancreatic cancer only a couple of weeks ago.

Like Feline, I was also touched by Bill Gates's tribute.
