A mindless idiot

by , 8 months ago

Last weekend my poor Father-in-law got a brick thrown through his
window and whilst we can't blame the local yobs there are a lot in
his area. What has a harmless little old man done to them. A couple
of week's ago also he had a lovely arrangement of plants on a stand removed to
goodness knows where. Aren't people mean.

No matter where you go you will always come across idiots that have no regard for other people or their property as long as it aint cost them they will do there utmost to create havoc and destroy things. All we can do is hope that in the future the fate awaits them to a greater degree.Years ago a similar thing happened in this area when some youths threw a brick of a bridge at a car resulting in the death of the occupunts.

What an awful thing to have happened. Hope he is ok?
Local yobs round here recently smashed up a local cemetry, such a cruel thing to do.

When you get to 90 you just want a bit of peace and quiet but
he doesn't seem to be getting it. Such a lovely, kind old gentleman
with not a bad thought about anyone.

I'm very saddened to hear that, Sabre. That's a dreadful thing to do to a very elderly gentleman who has earned peace and quiet in his old age. I'm glad he wasn't injured in any way though. These mindless yobs that do these things just don't consider the upset, or worse, that they cause to innocent people!

This is of course so sad to hear but typical I am afraid of an increasingly lawless, ignorant and socially inept society. While not the crime of the century, it must have been a trauma for your aged father-in-law and one that puts him in fear of what will happen next. Terror, and its making, seems to be everywhere nowadays. These people that commit these things are often opportunists and if they can't have things that instil decent values in them, then they'll simply attack others that do have them.

All we can do is to remain vigilant, work together in communities and rise above the fear necessary to do something about it all. Easier said than done, I know. With less police on the streets, less police time to look at anything other than major and increasing incidents like this, we all have a responsibility to try and do something about it, even if it's just caring for the victims.

Oh, Sabre, that's awful and I'm so sorry.

I absolutely cannot understand how anybody can get pleasure from harming or frightening vulnerable people.

It's tempting to wish something similar would happen to them, but that would just bring you down to their level and I couldn't even wish it on my worst enemy.

I thank God every day that we live in a quiet village with a strong sense of community and good neighbours who look out for each other. And for the fact that my mother-in-law lives in a sheltered apartment.

Actually feline, that is exactly what may have happened with these people - being frightened when they were vulnerable. They may just be taking this out now on other vulnerable people

or it could just be a case of a F****d up British Society (sorry to use the F word .. but couldn't express myself in any other way) - as I see these tings happening more and more.

On this occasion I don't really agree with what you

have posted HSP as I can't imagine a vulnerable

person hurling a brick through a window as they

would know how it feels to be treated like that so why

would they do it to someone else. At least they didn't

try to break in this time.

I can't understand this behaviour - disgusting doesn't come close to describing this. My parents used to live on a rough estate where I also grew up, but it got a lot worse after I left home. I was so happy and relieved when my parents moved away from there. It's a constant worry isn't it. Is your father-in-law ok?

So sorry to hear that mindless thugs have tried to throw their weight about, society should cherish our elderly and stop them from being targeted
