Have you enjoyed this summery Sunday?

by , 10 months ago

As a lighter diversion from the unending doom and gloom I hope you've all enjoyed your Sunday and also hope the sun was shining where you are.
My day started with money inwards, several things bartered, sold, collected and paid for. That took care of the money (and lobsters) aspect of the day, and so left us free to head to the beach for the afternoon, the sun was shining and it was quite lovely. This evening my partner has been fishing, he is heading home as I write, with several mackeral - so dinner is sorted (several dinners in fact). I have picked vast quantities of blackcurrants whilst he's been gone, so even dessert is on the menu. A loaf of bread is almost baked and it's going to be a fine, if late, dinner.
The tv hasn't been on, nor the radio, I have no idea if things in the world are better or worse than yesterday and to be honest I don't care.
Isn't it nice when a day is your own and works out rather nicely .... I hope yours has too.

Hi wendie, sounds like you had a perfect day!

It's been glorious sunshine here all weekend. I spent Saturday with friends at an Afro-Caribbean Carnival, exotic costumes, amazing food, dancing in the streets, friendly people...wonderful!!...and today just chilled out recovering. Lovely! :-)

That's bringing back memories, fruits!

When the previous Mr F and I lived in London we used to go to the Notting Hill Carnival every year as it was only 10 minutes walk from where we lived.

Before the year when it all turned violent (our last visit) I have very happy memories of sunshine, music, friendly interaction between people of all colours, impromtu parties that you just got invited in to as you walked down the street, and goat curry!

Nowadays, it's just nice to see a bit of sun at the weekend and chill out. We had a relaxed day on Sunday, went to the pub at lunchtime and sat in the garden talking bowlacks with our mates then came home to steak & chips and a couple of bottles of red. Bliss!

Feline, this was St Pauls Carnival in Bristol, smaller than Notting Hill but very similar! I was a bit apprehensive about going, given the recent riots etc in Stokes Croft which made national news, but I needen't have worried, a fab day and evening was had by all!

So glad you enjoyed it, fruity.

Wouldn't it be good if more events like that were organised around the country. My faith in human nature is still such that I think we could re-create that feeling if we tried.

Also, I've lost the bloody goat curry recipe, just as I've found a butcher who suplies goat. BUGGER!

It would, Feline, guess we're just a couple of old hippies at heart! Wish I could make jerk chicken taste like it does at St Pauls!

I spent the day on my own as hubby out walking from morn till night catching up on jobs ready for another week of hospital visits as I don't have a lot of time when we get back in especially now I belong this forum. Saturday was super visiting friends and enjoying a home cooked dinner (at night). A super leisurely day. Getting back to yesterday, there was lots to do in the garden and piles of washing and ironing to do as well as all the other jobs that needed doing. I also shampooed the sofas and carpet in the caravan ready for our holiday in a couple of week's and I was shattered by the time evening came. Fortunately, it was too hot for a cooked meal so did a lovely king sized prawn salad with all the accessories to go with it. (I did manage to watch some of the tennis though)!!!

I totally forgot about the tennis this weekend - now I've found out that Nadal didn't win :(

I so wanted him to win, just because he's from the tiny island of Mallorca ..... what an achievement it would have been for him. Mind you he has won some 10 grand slams already so I guess he's doing pretty well !!!
