For Jobseekers Allowance, Council Tax and Housing Benefit from May this year after restrictions on migrants from eight nations were lifted. This statement came from today's national UK press.
This country's finances are in turmoil, British citizens are losing jobs, having benefits slashed and facing massive cost of living hikes, yet still the British Government seems hell bent on continuing to make this country the land of milk and honey for all and sundry from the EU.
I am not sure if this is indeed a Brussels-led initiative or otherwise but my point is why should the British taxpayer, in their greatest hour of personal need, be expected to agree such funding to anyone that fancies a trip over the channel?
In addition, I understand that we retain a national anthem and a national flag, to be sung and flown with national pride I would like to think. But where do the government think that the national pride comes from when this country is nothing more than a melee of cash supported itinerants who would probably never ever give support for the national aims of this country?
Has being part of Europe really stood this country in good stead? And tell me another country in the world that would support us Brits in the same way. All view welcome.
Hello mister snoopy i read that the polish people helped england win battle of britain?
I think it's crazy. Personally, I voted UKIP last election and will be doing so from now on as I've had enough of the EU money pit. We're much better off out of that bankrupt, bloated, dying institution.
Was happy to see UKIP come second in the recent Barnsley by-election, so I guess I'm not the only one who's become so annoyed at foreign interference in our lives!
Barnsley Results:
Dan Jarvis (Lab) 14,724
Jane Collins (UKIP) 2,953
James Hockney (C) 1,999
Enis Dalton (BNP) 1,463
Tony Devoy (Ind) 1,266
Dominic Carman (LD) 1,012
Kevin Riddiough (Eng Dem) 544
Howling Laud Hope (Loony) 198
Michael Val Davies (Ind) 60
Thank you G-Man. For UKIP to get nearly three times the vote of the LD's is a marked dent in coalition confidence and a vote for something different. What is the point in a 'big society' where we all work harder, longer and pay more and more taxes to fund such benefits to immigrants? How sad it is to see the 'Englishness' of our once great and beautiful country evaporate before our very eyes. To use an old cliche, I am sick of working to support the world and his wife!
Too right Snoopy! I feel the same way.
The LD's lost their deposit in Barnsley. I think they're finished at the next election.
It's a long time until the next General Election, G-Man. Hopefully by then the economy will be recovering. We've paid a couple of billion off the deficit recently.
Yeah finish em off g-man and then stick em in that hellmouth to be forgotten.
Heh.
Feline - it'll be interesting to see what happens in the local elections in two months!
I was just starting to have a good day until I read your post Snoopy.
Oh good grief just how depressing a prospect is this.
Where are they going to go? What seriously can we offer these people?
Our infrastructure is crumbling now and has been for a while so what has to happen next before the Government realise we are but an island and about to go under.
Now where is that confounded bottle....
Apologies Lillie but sometimes we simply have to recognise what is going on in this country and debate it amongst ourselves otherwise we will get to the point where every other neighbour is an immigrant. And I firmly believe that we should all have the right of speech in this matter. It is a sad fact of life where we have to obediently recognise the human rights of every immigrant in this country against a background tacit acceptance that indigenous British people don't have any in return. And when we reach that sad plateau, does it really give folk the ooomph to work harder and get the economy back on its feet again?
I agree wholeheartedly with you Snoopy, if only we could do more.
Just to reiterate, we are but an island it is not feasibly possible to take in more people when we don't have the resources to look after them., in fact it's quite irresponsible to even try.
If we keep this up they'll soon be holding pop concerts for us as we appear already to be a floundering nation.
Do we have to go completely under before this is realised?
You mention oomph Snoopy, oh I would love this country to get back that great sense of pride that we once had, where and why it went in the first place, well I know who I blame...
Thank you Lillie.
I always like to think that I keep an open mind on things but sometimes it is hard to give up the lifestyle values that we have grown up with. Admittedly, nothing stays the same and perhaps we just have to accept a multi-cultural future in this country. And I firmly believe that there are far too many dangerous and unpredictable global tensions to suggest that any other country would fight alongside us in the case of another war. I mean, if Eastern Europe actually enjoys knocking the UK in a Eurovision song contest, what chance do we have if they need to fight alongside us? Eastern Europeans come here to take what is not available elsewhere and nothing else and they would sooner go back home if that benefit supply and available work dried up. That has been proven.
But to get back to my point, why should we be funding these benefits to immigrants when the government is cutting things that make Britain such a great place such as help for the aged, help for the disabled and even our treasured libraries and lollipop ladies? Or am I being naive and blinkered??
If anyone is being naive and blinkered it is our present government and not you! The ConDems proclaim to be dealing with the issues that affect the people of this country, whilst at the same time destroying the infrastructure that supports the most vulnerable in our society.
Oh Parchester how right you are! And now I read the PM wants to put fighting units into Libya. Or was I so drained this Sunday morn that I completely mis-read that? And I always thought the value of going to work meant that I could enjoy what others couldn't! AS Lillie says, where is that confounded bottle!
My mother who is 77 years old says that the biggest mistake she ever made in this country was to work hard and buy her own home. She basis this on the fact that people she knows whom never worked a day in their lives have a better pension, healthcare free at the point of entry and free home help or for those needing care home support get this free too. Because she owns her own property local support services are reluctant to offer her assistance in the belief that she is able to afford this privately and if not then she should consider freeing up the capital in her property. Her home is her legacy to her children and she is in no way going to compromise on that!
I really don't know who is left to fight, all the forces are so sadly depleted or exhausted from other deployments.
Perhaps they'll recall all the retired service vets which Hubby and I both are.
You can expect to see us wading in fighting them off with our sticks, crutches and walking frames and shouting long live Democracy....that would sort em !
It is crazy. The best maintained homes in the UK are council homes (I know, I grew up in one), and the rents are around 15-20% of the market rate. It's not worth buying a home if you can get a council or housing association place.
I grew up in one too, G-Man, but my own home now is far better maintained as it's in our interests to keep it in a good state of repair and add to its value.
Its all EU
We ned to get out fo the EU
Thank goodness we didnt go the way of the Euro!
We contribute £50 million a DAY to EU coffers. We send international aid to countries who have more of an military capability than we have now. When these EU citizens take root in this country we will give them an abundance of financial assistance as though it is their god given right without ever expecting a penny in return.
Thankfully this government says it's listening to us, if they weren't one can only imagine how awful things would be!!
Good points Parchester. But if this government is truly listening, why is this escalation of benefits happening? I sense we are being swamped beyond a reasonable return. And when we are turning current British benefit claimants into second class citizens, why are we inviting others from abroad to literally take the cream off the pint of benefit gold top? If I described this as madness, would I be alone?
I agree with everything that has been said, up to a point, and I did once vote UKIP in an unimportant local election as a small gesture of protest.
But the country could never be run on the basis of single-issue politics, neither should it be.
As I understand it,workers from abroad who come here to fill skills gap or whatever, can apply and get child benefit also, even if wife and children remain in their native country. The money can be withdrawn by the workers families from their own banks in other countries while man stays here to work.Should we be supporting people who just happen to be related to some one who just happens to come over here to work, and that money spent in another economy altogether.
I do not really want to be percieved as greedy or grudge any person to do the best they can for their family, but our young are struggling with rents, for mortgages, careers, etc etc and many feel they have to leave the country.
Feline123 we currently have a government of single issue politics, that the rich will get richer through private enterprise at the expense of public services.
Parchester - but public services can't grow unless private enterprise does. Public services consume tax, private services generate it. Labour's had the equation heavily out of balance for over a decade, and now their profligacy problems have come home to roost!
Well said, G-Man.
Are they listening to us though?
Apparently Cameron has relaxed right to come to work here as long as you have a certain level of income?
So i guess that means the criminal gang master with an income of 50k is ok then!
When in opposition the Tory party was highly critical of Labour's open door policy (and rightly so) and made huge political capital out of this. Now that they are in power do we see a massive sea change in that policy? Of course... not double standards is the order of the day for any political party.
Which other EU country would agree to such soft-handed approach? You could not make this up seriously. It just shows that UK is the soft touch of the EU. I agree with the Daily Express about pulling out of the EU. Look at Switzerland which has never joined the EU but has still traded with EU countries without fuss for economic gain?
Do you want me to tell you why this could be catastrophic for this country?
The Eastern European gypsies are already flooding into this country and have been for a long time. They are quite the worst people - they do not have any work ethic , are dirty filthy and crime is endemic in their culture.
They come here for 3-5 years then go home to Slovakia , Poland and buy houses that the indigenous population cant even afford and they live like kings! That is their only reason for coming here! That is fact - I know as it is a very big issue now in Slovakia and Poland!
My friend Luka came over to work on the bus from Slovakia - the gypos on the bus were so drunk and violent the driver refused to take them any further than Calais and so they were unceremoniuosly decanted from the bus.
LKast time I came back from Bratislava there were about 10 gypsies to every non-gypo on the plane - it was like an exodus.
I think people in this country dont have a lot to worry about from hard working Eastern Europeans but to the criminal element gangs and gypos.
It could really be bad for us.
At least the Irish saw the Romany gypsies for what they were.
The problem inthis country is we have to many bleeding hearts who see a few poor people and think awwwwwww - What they dont see is how these people actually live in their communities and that they are indeed a massive criminal element.
Omen, we have had a gypsy problem around Milton Keynes for years, but they're not Romany Gypsies, they're just dishonest people who trawl around the countryside ripping people off, then move on leaving a heap of shit to be cleaned up.
Yeah Irish gypos - if you think thats bad wait till the Romanies move in.
Really bad.
They live in small huts always by rivers in Eastern Europe - they crap , wash and eat from the rivers - so living downstream isnt a great place to be!
Rubbish everywhere , crime everywhere and because you are paid for the number of kids you have in Slovakia they breed out of control - beg and steal everywhere its a nightmare!
One thing about Eastern Europeans though they are not politically correct and laugh at us, they treat them the way they deserve to be - shunned and outcast.
They built 250 luxury flats for these scum as the European Union / Directorate said they were a racist country - after a year the flats had all the copper piping removed , all of the sinks etc had been smashed and windows wrecked (double glazed they were too) - the place went from quite a nice area to a dump within a year.
The Slovaks got quite angry about this as most of the ordinary people dont get luxuries like double glazing or even free housing. Amazing isnt it - everywhere inthe world the laziest and most criminal dole bludgers get all the benefits and treat them with disdain.
Often beggars belief how people on the dole in this country and in council houses treat them like a dump because it is "council" property and not their own. To me if i was given a property to live in i would look after it like it was my own!
I simply cant understand the mentality of people like this that would destroy something beautiful or provided free for them.
In my opinion these people should be banned from ever getting council benefit or housing benefit - we need some deterrent and losing money and benefits its the greatest - Lets hope Cameron sticks to his guns and sticks it to the dole bludgers but it seems it isnt as strict as it could have been!
Probably against EU regulations!
Omen, I do love you! You just say it like it is!
Exactly and if more peeps did then we wouldnt have the problems we have in this country.
Just read about the £50 fine given to that muslim nutter who burned the poppies. If I was a soldier returning from Helmand and had a gun i would have blown every one of them away!
Thats the sort of scumbags we dont need in this country - they come here bludge £800 a month off the dole with their extended families and 20 kids then burn our flag and attack our women its a disgrace no wonder my grandfather was so angry - i see so clearly now!
Then there is the case of the ned in Barnsley who kicked a muslims car after he was insulted - given a £150 quid fine!
Believe me the immigrants have killed this country. I used to laugh when they used words like Cosmopolitan and ethnically diverse , melting pot.
What would you really call it though if you were "allowed" to?
If only everyone in Germany had stood up in 1944 and said it as it was then 6 million of the worlds most clever people wouldnt have died in gas chambers!
I must say I was spitting nails when I heard about that £50 fine last night! And I spat a load more when I heard the guy 'justifying' his actions on the tv, while happily accepting his benefits every week!
And as for your last sentence, Omen, I've had that thought in my head so many times lately!
Yes but its no use in the heed.
Better to come from the mouth or actions!
And thats the problem as we know we are controlled from Eu which of course has its capital in Belgium and we all know if we have every been there that it is totally controlled by certain arab states!
Conspiracy theory?
I think not!
Just visit Charlerois or Brussels you will see and likely hear what i mean!
Yes, you're absolutely right!
Even sadder - we gave them the money to do it.
The black poison we call oil.
As they say we have been hoisted by our own petard.
Kilroy was right if it wasnt for the oil the arabs would still be grazing goats in the desert and chopping each other heads off - now they do it whilst they watch in luxury hotels and palaces built by (guess who yip the US and UK, Germany etc).
In essence it is we who are the slaves to the arabs now!

Erm, not exactly.
Poland had already been conquered by the Nazis. I think a few of their armed forces who made it out came over here to help Britain take back Poland from Hitler.
So it's rather the other way round!
Sorry, G-Man, indogirl's right!
"2,944 pilots took part in the historic Battle of Britain, of whom 497 lost their lives. Amongst them there were 145 Polish pilots, of whom 32 were killed. The RAF and allied pilots shot down 1,733 German aircraft and the Luftwaffe shot down 915 British fighters. 203 German aircraft were shot by the Polish pilots. In September, during the highest intensity of German attacks, 13% of Polish pilots in frontline squadrons were Poles, and in October, because of the RAF loses, the proportion went up to 20%.According to Air Chief Marshall Hugh Dowding, AOC Fighter Command of RAF: "(...) all (Polish) squadrons swung into the fight with a dash and enthusiasm which is beyond praise. (...) The first Polish squadron (303) (...) during the course of one month shot down more Germans than any other British unit in the same period. Other Poles (...) were used (...) in British squadrons, but (...) they were probably most efficient employed in their own national units."
(From: The Poles on the Front Lines)
Many of the Polish pilots were trained about half a mile from where I grew up. We owe these brave guys a lot!
Well said, fruity. We had some Polish people living near us in Derby when I was growing up in post-war austerity. As a child, I didn't really understand why they were there, but they were nice people and clearly worked hard. Once I was old enough to understand about the war, I took my metaphorical hat off to them!
There's a Polish War Memorial dedicated to the Polish airmen who died, at RAF Northolt, where 303 Polish Squadron were based, they were part of Fighter Command.
I remember it well, fruity, I used to drive past it regularly when I lived in that area.
As an RAF officer's wife (now ex-wife), so do I. :-)
Yes Hubby is ex RAF and I'm a WRNS vet.
The Polish and allied forces for there were many all did their bit for which we are all eternally grateful.
Ah, Lillie, that explains your overfamiliarity with German loos! As it does mine.
Erm, my comment still stands though... The Polish airmen who flew in the Battle of Britain were doing so to aid us, a country who was fighting against the Nazis who'd already invaded and taken control of their home country.
I'm not going to say they weren't brave, I'm just saying they were doing it out of self interest rather than to help us.
Well, they could have just sat back and waited to be rescued but they didn't, they joined us.
But I think most people would.
Given the chance to free your family, friends and entire country from an oppressive regime or living a life of virtual slavery under the heel of that same regime, which would you do?
While I take your point, G-Man, didn't all the Allies fight out of self interest really?
If you say so Indogirl but in my experience I have yet to see evidence of that. Perhaps you could enlighten us with your source of information here. But to be blunt, my discussion was not centred around the integrity of the Eastern Europeans concerned ( please take note ), but more about why this supposedly bankrupt British economy was funding more immigrants and at the same time slashing the benefits and hopes of the indigenous British people. That is a trade off that most passionate British citizens are not prepared to accept at face value, if at all.
This question has more to do with keeping the British economy in check although I appreciate that other issues will creep in. I have lost count of the number of eastern Europeans that I know who want their whole families to come here because we are veritably the 'land of milk and honey' when it comes to available benefits. I suggest that it is completely the wrong signal to send out to the world.
You have to understand that we are a small island with a big social heart not seen elsewhere in the world.
Thank you Indogirl. Every country has unique history and heritage. And remember education is expensive. I thank you for your comments about England being very important in the world although I suspect that global tensions dictate otherwise. Can we please have your valued input as to how the British economy may best be improved, seeing as the country is in financial turmoil?
Oooh Missy Indogirl, I love your loquacity! I think we should get your suggestions cc'd to Mister David Cameron to muse over during his morning Weetabix. Excellent!
Yes fruiters is right - it took a lot to bring the UK into the war and other countries too - self interest - human beings after all governed by bad self serving people!
The only type who seem to get into government.
Advert for a politician should read - If you are a complete bas*** apply here!
Hi Indogirl,
You said:"... so it is true that the eastern europeans have already supported the national aims of britain?
Hello mister snoopy48 I am sorry but did you forget that?"
But that isn't exactly what's being said.
Imagine you're on a ship which crashes into a reef. Your ship starts going down and another ship comes to your help, saving you but getting its hull damaged by the reef as it does so. If you now help bail water out of your rescuer's craft so that you can make it to dry land, does the rescuer now owe you thanks or do you owe the rescuer thanks?
Britain only went to war because Poland was invaded, and provided shelter to that country's refugees. If some of those refugees fought to help Britain free Poland, does Britain owe them thanks or do they owe Britain thanks?
I think Poland owes us a debt, not the other way round...
