Whilst watching the news this morning I saw a piece on the benefits of going to University abroad, especially The Netherlands. It costs just 1,500 per year! These fees are expected to rise this year, but even with a rise they will be nothing compared to the costs of going to University in this country. Almost halve of the students are not from the Netherlands which means that they get alot of drops out in the first year, but years 2 & 3 the educational standards are extremely high.
When compared with the rising costs of University in England, going abroad will look more and more appealing to most.
What are your thoughts, would you be happy to allow your children to go to University abroad, or would you consider going yourself.
This really saddens me Vettriano, we had/have? the best educative systems in the world but our bright bunch can no longer afford to attend these exalted edifices.
I'm appalled that again the government seem to be complacent in what matters most.
If they're not careful all our intellectuals will go abroad to learn and probably stay there as what can they gain by coming back here looking for employment?
Just seen the latest stats 1 in 5 young people are out of work.
It's all too grim.
It would be worth it but only to universities abroad who have similar repuations to Oxford and Cambridge University.I would not recommend mickey mouse universities with zero reputations.
Hi Creativesaver
The university was in Marstadt? and they spoke to some education and employment bigwigs who said that they would welcome students with qualifications from Universities abroad - the curriculum is taught in English.
In Scotland the fees are £1,820 (£2,895 for medicine) and in England £3,290. I like to study in England because there is a multicultural society and there is a long history of innovation and invention in arts and sciences.

I'm sorry to say that I think that you are right Lillie, I think that alot of young people will study abroad and most will choose to stay there. The young people I saw looked happy and quite carefree, it looked like a nice place to study and there were lots of other English people studying there too. They knew that when they finished University rather than being thousands of pounds in debt, they would be debt free! If I didn't have responsibilities I would consider going to The Netherlands myself!
