Is It Time To Join The Fuel Lobby With Petrol Prices Spiralling Out Of Control?

by , 1 year ago

With more duty rises due within the next months all we seem to hear is the coalition is thinking and thinking about introducing a petrol duty stabiliser. This looks more like spin overload the sort of thing the previous government was a dab hand at for over 10 years.

I think the plan is to have it in place for the March budget, and the delay seems to be caused by the complexity of working out exactly how to make it feasible and workable.

Something has got to be done createsaver, I really don't know how much more this country is prepared to take with regards to these 'spiralling' costs.

In fact I think it may only be a matter of time before we see those blockades around the refineries again, I do hope not but how else can folk get the message through that enough is enough.

Unfortunately this government as once again hit the soft option on raising tax a total lack of consideration for the population of this country. Direct action seems to be all these idiots understand. A total blockade of London would get the message home.

The government will assess fuel duty revenues in the coming weeks, to see if there has been a noticable drop in revenues raised for the treasury, if they see little or no qualitive difference in the amount of fuel being purchased, I suspect they won't do that much. They could at the very least not apply the additional duty scheduled for April.

I agree Parchester and suspect that The PM is backing down on the fuel duty stabiliser. He certainly was not answering direct questions put to him about it on Radio 4 this morning. Most people can do little to cut back on the amount of fuel they use without big changes to their lifestyles. Why are we having to consider that when Americans pay so much less for fuel?
